Dear Friends and Family, We had a great trip to Bangkok and have been back for about 2 weeks. Unfortunately,we have been battling sickness since we’ve been back— we’ve all had the flu plus Eden with the croup and an ear infection. We hoping we’re over everything. Please pray for our health? We are thankful to be back home now to enjoy the cooler temperatures and holiday cheer. Please let us know how we can pray for you. Happy Thanksgiving! Blessings to you, Scott,Andi,Macey and Eden Click here for our newsletter with prayer requests. By Scott &Andi,on October 27th,2011% Dear Friends and Family,
It’s official! We’re heading to Bangkok on Saturday even with the threat of flooding. Here are the reasons that we have decided to proceed with MinistryNet: - The local Thai staff and crisis management team feel that our part of town is safe, and they have promised to take care of any needs that might arise while we are in Bangkok. They are truly amazing and want to bless us with Thai hospitality even in the middle of an enormous crisis for them. They still feel it is safe. And again, the head of the crisis management team and National Director live very close to our hotel location.
- It has not rained in Bangkok over the last 4 days, and water level still is down in our area.
- The hotel not only has food and water stockpiled, but should the hotel get flooded, they have said they will relocate us to another hotel an hour south of our location where there is no threat of flood. They have also agreed that if we suddenly needed to evacuate to the airport that they would bus us to the airport elevated train system, provided the water doesn’t reach over 50 cm (roughly 20 inches)
- Our leadership including our president have given us their blessing to go. They feel that the urgency of mission outweighs some of the risks of going as opposed to postponing until a later time. We all know that 4 months in the digital world is like 10 years in the face to face world.
So,like any international trip, there is a risk. However,we still feel the risk is acceptable at this point, and we do have a plan if things get more difficult than expected while we are there. We are not afraid to cancel at the last minute,if necessary. There is a high tide expected this weekend in Bangkok, and we will be monitoring that closely. However,if our hotel and surrounding area escapes any flooding during that high tide that will give us even more confidence that we should stay dry while we are in Bangkok. Let us continue to be in prayer for the outcomes of our conference as well as for the victims of the flood. Please pray for those who have lost loved ones. At this point, all of our Thai staff members are accounted for,but some have lost their homes and property. During the conference we will be addressing ways of how we can help. We consider Isaiah 43:1-7 as the Lord speaking to us for Ministrynet. It is amazing how the situation in Thailand right now has garnered more prayer for this conference than we ever could have imagined. We expected that some of our conferees might suddenly decide not to attend, but instead we are seeing more people sign up! I addition our Thai staff have requested inflatable rafts to help them in their outreach. We have purchased 7 of these rafts and will be transporting them as we go. We appreciate your prayers for us the ~175 other people who are involved in MinistryNet and that the Lord uses our time together to further His kingdom! Blessings to you, Scott,Andi,Macey and Eden

In other news we are getting ready to go to Thailand at the end of October for a technology conference. Andi has been working on several things in preparation for our time there. Scott will be working with the technical aspects of running the conference once we’re in-country. Would you pray right now for our housing situation? The hotel needs to replace some beds and there is a concern that there might not be enough twins beds to meet our need. Thank you! Please let us know how we can pray for you. We appreciate you! We are back home after about 8 weeks away in Colorado. We are thankful to be under our own roof again. The summer was very full with our work with New Staff Training,Andi’s classes, and our biennial staff conference. We also experienced the loss of Andi’s grandmother,Grandma Dot. We are therefore thankful that the past couple of weeks have been a little less hectic.
We are about to enter a new stage for our family—school! Macey will begin preschool on September 6. We are thankful that she has a spot in a preschool that takes place in a church just a mile from our home. Another nice feature is that the state pays for her schooling since she is four years old and in the voluntary pre-kindergarten program (VPK)! We appreciate your prayers that we will all adjust well (especially Macey) and that we will all stay healthy. We so appreciate you. Please let us know how we can pray for you as well as just any family news. Blessings to you, Scott,Andi,Macey and Eden Click here for our newsletter with prayer requests. By Scott &Andi,on May 16th,2011% Dear Friends and Family,
Greetings from Orlando! We are so thankful to be home! We have adjusted well to being back in town, but have struggled to stay healthy. We have been encouraged to reunite with our ministry teams and are preparing for our next adventure. We will leave for Ft. Collins,CO on June 9. We appreciate your prayers for all that is involved with our New Staff Training. 220 new laborers are expected to join our ministry this summer!! Thanks again for your prayers and partnership. We are doing well and look forward to returning home in the next few weeks (April 19). We are so thankful for how the Lord has blessed our time here. We hope that you have a few minutes to read our newsletter about a creative outreach that one university is doing to reach out to the Japanese people. Please let us know how we can be praying for you. We continue to dedicate our effort full-time to raising up the additional funds that we need. The Lord has been so faithful as we have seen nearly half of those additional funds committed. It has been a humbling experience to be in a place of needing to entrust this to Lord and to see Him faithfully call others to partner with us. We are grateful for the Lord’s calling in our lives and that He truly is Jehovah Jireh! (The Lord Will Provide!) It has been a treat to have extended time with family. Macey cannot get enough time with Grammi and Grampi. We might be in for a difficult time when it’s time for us to head home. Eden is cuter than ever and is about the eclipse the 6 month milestone. Thanks again for your prayers, love, and partnership. Please let us know how we can be praying for you. We were blessed to spend much time with family and are off and running.
We are now working fulltime on expanding our team of ministry partners in Virginia. We are not sure how long we will be here, but hope to return to Orlando as soon as we can. Andi’s sister and brother-in-law are living with us temporarily as they have been in the midst of job changes. It’s been quite a party, but we have been enjoying this time together. Macey and Eden are enjoying their expanded staff We just had a big snow storm. Macey helped build a snowman and we have no TV,internet, phone and very poor cell coverage. We are thankful that we still have electricity and the roads are clear. We appreciate your prayers. Please let us know how we can pray for you. Things are going very well as we continue to adjust to being a family of four. We are enjoying Eden and can’t believe that she’s 9 weeks old already! We are thankful that she has been a fairly ‘easy’ baby. We are still, though, looking forward to a full night’s sleep;-). Andi has been doing well and for this we are thankful. She continues to be tested for the irregularity in her clotting factor. We are thankful that this has not caused a problem in her healing from the birth. The first couple months after Macey’s birth were very difficult, but these last several weeks have really been a joy! Also,a few months ago we wrote about other health issues that Andi was experiencing, including some large, unsightly warts on 6 of her fingers. Four painful treatments did not take them away and Andi was beginning to wonder if surgery was the only option. Well, just a couple of weeks ago,all of the warts just disappeared!! It is simply amazing to see the transformation of her fingers. Macey has been doing wonderfully with potty training! We really thank her Mammaw Ni,who has been here visiting, for her help and encouragement. We so appreciate your prayers. Please let us know how we can pray for you. We hope that you can read our attached prayer letter for more prayer requests. Click here for our newsletter with our prayer requests By Scott &Andi,on August 30th,2010% It’s almost September and that means that Eden’s birth is right around the corner! Andi has been quite uncomfortable and tired and can’t wait to meet Eden. We are thankful that Eden continues to progress normally.
There has been, however,a question about Andi’s blood clotting correctly. Her last blood test showed a normal level and for that we are thankful. She will have at least one more blood test to monitor her clotting factor. Her hematologist is concerned that her clotting level could drop after giving birth, increasing her chances of increased bleeding. Also a result of these concerns is the possibility of not being able to have an epidural. We are hopeful that Andi will be able to have one since her last blood test came back normal. (The hematologist explained that some anesthesiologists might not feel safe giving her an epidural given that her clotting number has been lower in the past.) Andi and her mother will have a consultation with an anesthesiologist on Tuesday. Please pray that that meeting will ease Andi’s fear. Also, please pray that the anesthesiologist on-duty at the hospital when she goes into labor will be someone who will allow Andi to have an epidural.
Also, please pray that Andi will trust the Lord as labor and delivery draw near. She has been extra nervous this time around. This is mostly because of the question about the epidural, but also b/c she is more knowledgeable about this less-than-pleasurable experience. We appreciate your prayers and will keep you updated as Andi goes into labor (pray that her water breaks at home (or Wal-Mart or wherever— it’s a quick ticket into the hospital!!) and progresses through labor and delivery (and meets Eden!!)
